Monica D. Moons, a Shareholder of the firm, is on the Board of Directors of the Motor City Mitten Mission, a local Detroit-area nonprofit organization. The Motor City Mitten Mission is dedicated to helping the homeless, the needy, the sick and those striving for a better way of life while educating, partnering and collaborating with a number of other organizations, schools, churches, clubs and businesses. One of the Mission’s biggest projects is The Plarn Farm, in which volunteers make mats and pillows from recycled plastic bags.
Recently, the Mission hosted an exciting event to help raise money for their worthy cause. The Darren McCarty Slapshot Comedy Show provided entertainment, stories and laughs. The event also featured a VIP after party including a private meet and greet with former Red Wing Darren McCarty. Couzens Lansky was a proud major sponsor of the event.
Ms. Moons has been a frequent lecturer on the subject of estate planning and administration on behalf of the Institute for Continuing Legal Education, the Legal Assistants Association of Michigan, Lorman Education Services, Professional Education Systems, Inc., the National Business Institute and at various financial planning seminars. Her primary concentration areas include estate planning, estate and trust administration, tax planning, probate and tax litigation and real estate.
